A winning combination of modernity and the traditional, Bansko ski resort is located in an engaging town nestled at the foot of the beautiful Pirin Mountain. The resort provides for skiers of all abilities, with some 65km of ski runs available along with off-piste, so even families with the very young will find the resort caters for them as much as for more experienced skiers. Also available are a half-pipe and fun park, for those whose talents and interests go beyond just skiing!
Perhaps the best option for beginners is the Pamporovo resort, situated on the Rhodopi Mountain, which thanks to its position as one of the southernmost resorts in Europe is also Bulgaria's sunniest resort. Having said that, rest assured that Pamporovo also gets its fair share of snow, too! The ski season generally lasts from mid-December to mid-April. Thanks to the Rhodopi Mountain's gentle slopes and summits, first-time skiers will find Pamporovo a pleasurable introduction to the skiing world. However, expert skiers shouldn't worry—they can expect to be taxed by the resort's Giant Slalom Run.
For over one hundred years, Borovets has been one of the predominant winter resorts in Eastern Europe. Today it is Bulgaria's largest. Situated in charming pine forests amongst the Rila mountains, the resort offers healthy, clean air, facilities for both beginners and experienced skiers at its renowned ski school and, of course, plenty of snow from December to April, producing some excellent skiing conditions. Borovets is not only a great place to ski but also to relax and party too. The resort includes many discos and bars, along with entertainment provided by Bulgarian folk musicians and even 'horo' dancers.
